Just about every woman who conceives children will experience back pain when pregnant. Back pain during pregnancy is one of the most, if not, the most common adversities that a pregnant woman will experience. Lower back pain when pregnant is especially common.

Lower back pain when pregnant can be attributed to a variety of different factors, the biggest being back strain caused by carrying the weight of ones child. That being said, often times mothers are tasked with the goal of finding pregnancy back pain relief.
As a pregnant woman progresses through her pregnancy, she may find that it becomes more and more difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Usually during the hours of sleep when one lies down it allows for spinal decompression, therefore helping to alleviate back pain. It’s far more difficult to find a decompressing position in pregnancy however. A majority of women end up sleeping on their side, this however doesn’t really allow for optimal spinal decompression. That being said, a woman who sleeps on her side may still find herself suffering from back pain during pregnancy.
Sleeping on the back in late pregnancy is highly advised against, due to the potential health risks that this could pose. If a woman in her late pregnancy were to lie on her back, the weight of her child(ren) would be put on her inferior vena cava (a major blood vessel in the body). The compression of this blood vessel could result in drastic drops in blood pressure and blood oxygen content, for both the mother and child and in more extreme cases can be fatal.
The CradleCloud Pregnancy Pillow is a new way to help provide pregnancy back pain relief for women. The CradleCloud is a special, OB/GYN approved, inflatable pregnancy mattress that allows for lying on stomach while pregnant, both safely and comfortably. The CradleCloud Pregnancy Pillow features dual air chambers, an adjustable belly rim, a wide headrest, a breast cutout, and a slight decline throughout the length of the device to allow for spinal decompression. To use the device, the pregnant woman would essentially just lie in the device and experience instant relief from back pain.
The CradleCloud can not only be used as a maternity mattress for sleeping on stomach while pregnant, but also as a pregnancy raft, and a massage table topper for prenatal massages. It’s also easy to store, making it so simple for travel!
The dual air chambers that the CradleCloud features also function as a safety mechanism! In the rare instance that the CradleCloud were to “pop” (for lack of a better word), the secondary interior air chamber would still help to keep the user lifted, and  prevent the user from putting pressure on their stomach!

Almost every mother during the duration of their pregnancy will experience back pain while pregnant. Lower back pain when pregnant is one of the most common conditions that moms experience during pregnancy. With that being said, there are a variety of potential solutions to this back pain, a newer one being “pregnancy tape”.

What Causes Back Pain When Pregnant?

During a healthy pregnancy, a woman typically will gain between 25 and 35 pounds. The spine has to support this weight, in addition to the weight it was already carrying, prior to pregnancy. Not only that, but pregnancy causes one’s center of gravity to shift, resulting in the potential change in one’s posture. This can result in back pain, or strain.

Another factor behind experiencing back pain while pregnant, is hormone change. During pregnancy, a hormone called relaxin is produced. This hormone allows ligaments in the pelvic area to relax and joints to become looser to prepare for the birth process. This same hormone can cause spine supporting ligaments to loosen, potentially leading to instability and pain.
Yet another potential factor behind experiencing lower back pain while pregnant is muscle separation. As the uterus grows, two parallel sheets of muscles, known as the rectal abdominis muscles, may separate. These muscles run from the rib cage to the pubic bone, and the separation of these muscles can cause back pain.

How Can I Treat My Back Lower Back Pain?

Unless you were suffering from chronic back issues before pregnancy, the pain is likely to gradually subside before giving birth. That being said, there is a potential solution for lower back pain when pregnant.
CradleCloud 3-1 maternity belt is an ultra-lightweight alternative to traditional maternity belts and wraps. Made from cotton that’s been treated with an acrylic adhesive, it mimics the properties of human skin and provides the same benefits as a maternity belt or wrap, without being as bulky. It’s also waterproof, meaning it can be used while in the shower, pool, or ocean, and can be discreetly worn under clothing.
CradleCloud 3-1 maternity belt is applied by simply peeling the backing paper off of a strip of the tape, and while applying a little bit of tension, anchoring it to points of the body that need support and rubbing your hand along the tape to warm up and activate the adhesive.
And that’s it! It’s so simple, yet so effective!
